Harry Norman Bailey, Age 28
Private, 252019, 49th Battalion (Alberta Regiment), Canadian Expeditionary Force.
Harry had at some point immigrated to Canada and married a Violet Maud Bailey of
Saskatchewan. He enlisted on the 21st December 1916, and at that time was said to be
5ft 8 ins, in height with dark brown hair and brown eyes. Harry was 25 years old
when he enlisted having been born on July 1st 1890; his occupation given at the time
of his enlistment is that of a Farmer.
On August 12th 1918 he was killed in action, probably by enemy shelling during a
minor action to take the village of Farvillers. Harry lies buried in Bouchoir New
British cemetery in grave YD.1.
